All Good Things

"Madeira Sycamore" plein air oil by Walter Porter
Tucson artist Walter Porter quietly stole a lot of hearts with his painting "Madeira Sycamore" at the 4th Annual APAP Members Juried Show in Sedona, which closed April 11.  Not until all the votes were counted from Artists' Choice and People's Choice ballot boxes did the Board of Directors realize both awards were due a single artist.  Although the photo above doesn't do the painting justice, Porter's little plein air painting was charming and colorful, with lovely brushwork.  Learn more about the artist and his work at his website: http://www.walterporter.com/ .

Congratulations to our two new Board of Directors members Sandi Ciaramitaro, Membership Chairperson, and Toni Perrin, Paint-Out Coordinator.  Both women are energetic and active artists and very enthusiastic about creating new opportunities for APAP members.

A wonderful show doesn't happen without the hard work of lots of good folks.  Above, Mary Lois Brown (left) and Becky Joy set up a lovely reception feast before the opening reception March 30.  Heartfelt thanks to the many who volunteered to set-up and take down paintings, "sit the show" and handle sales, answer questions, and all the other myriad tasks that go into making good things happen:

Sherri Aldawood, Sandy Beck, Gary Binder, Mary Lois Brown, Bonnie Casey, Sandi Ciaramitaro, Robert Dalegowski, Sue Davis, Jeff Dolan, Barbara Donahue, Norma Gibson, Rita Goldner, Dave Haskell, Michael Chesley Johnson, Becky Joy, Marsha Owen, Jerry Pond, Bobbie Stearn, Eric Slayton, Ruthie Stoner, Kathy Willis, Carol Wynne, and the wonderful Sedona Arts Center staff.

Be sure and show some love for those who generously donated awards for our winners: Gamblin Oils, Randy Higbee Frames, Sourcetek, and Raymar Art.
